A door in one direction only to have it shut in our faces.

We may learn the hard way that the direction we sought for ourselves either wasn’t meant for us or that we aren’t prepared for it yet. When put in such situations, we should look for other opportunities while remaining steadfast in our conviction that God is always with us and is preparing us for His plan. We may not like where we are right now, but being patient will help us get to where we need, and Who among us has never had to wait patiently for something important in their lives. For some, it may be medical reports, while it could be college application results for others. Far too often, the wait can be excruciating, unbearable even. Yet, patience is a virtue, one that so many of us have lost the capacity for in this world of same-day shipping and lightning fast handheld devices and Internet speeds.

When God teaches us to wait patiently, we may feel like we’ve wasted our time. But nothing could be further from the truth. When we wait, God helps us prepare for what He’s planned for us.

Waiting Can Make Us Feel Like We Lack Direction

Sometimes, for important life decisions, we may have to end up waiting for a long time, years even. It can be challenging, for example, to find a job but only finding rejection emails in our inbox. We may find ourselves attempting to walk through indeed, were always intended to be.

Adapting to Change

At times, we are struck with adversity or simply have to face conditions that completely turn our lives around. It is never easy to reorient our lives to accommodate this change. Change brings a lot of emotions, and we suddenly have no choice but to come to terms with them. We go through a ton of conflicting ideas that leave us feeling weak and helpless. It is in those moments that we must remember that we are God’s children and that He does not abandon us. He is teaching us about resilience, character, forgiveness, and patience. We may not realize it at the time, but that doesn’t make it any less true.
