One of the greatest needs facing Christians across the world today is living an abundant life. It is what Jesus desires for us. In John 10:10, Jesus says,
“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life and have it to the full.”
Living life abundantly, indeed to its fullest, is something that’s available and possible for every Christian. It isn’t some sort of exclusive club that privileges only a few. God wishes for all of us to live this sort of life.
Getting by and Desiring More
Imagine the struggles that your parents have gone through to give you the life that they believed you deserve. For many of us, our parents have done everything humanly possible to give us lives where we feel fulfilled. Lives that are not devoid of struggle but lives that are easier than theirs were. Of course, not all of us are fortunate enough to have had parents to do that for us, but that’s exactly the point. Human beings are fallible. We make mistakes. Imagine now that if your parents, with all their faults, tried to ensure you live a life of plenty, how much more your Heavenly Father, who is free of fault, wishes the same for you.
God doesn’t wish for us to struggle forever, getting by on the resolve of our spirit alone. He wishes for us to have more. To live lives that fulfill us, that make us feel content. There should be no guilt and no shame to do well for ourselves as long as we stay on the path of righteousness.
