“If any of thine be driven out unto the outmost parts of heaven, from thence will the LORD, thy God, gather thee, and from thence will He fetch thee.” Deuteronomy 30:4.

There are so many ways that we’re drawn to God’s presence. Small reminders, every day. Seeing a white dove at the right moment, discovering lost money when we need it the most, and so much more. These are the things that God uses to fetch us back to Him, eternally.

Perspective

When your heart desires more intimacy, that’s when you’re being drawn to God. It’s more intimacy than His cosmic presence awards us and even more than His indwelling provides. You know you’re being called to God when you’re restless, unhappy with the material world—when you realize that there’s a lot more to the world than your material reality, and that is God. When God gives you perspective, He’s fetching you back to him.

Love

God will draw us to Him time and again, no matter how astray we’ve gone. In the Bible, we read about how God lovingly pursues us. In the parable of Luke and the lost sheep, Luke leaves the ninety-nine sheep to go looking after the one lost sheep. This serves as a reminder that no matter how much we’ve wandered, God will always call us back to Him. He’ll never abandon us, as long as we ask Him for help. If we’re living in sin, and we can’t cross the gulf that leads us to His holiness, then all we need to do is cry out for help, and He’ll leap through that gulf for us.

Humanity

Jesus charged into humanity, forged through Calvary, and came out of the other end victorious. That leaves us with not much to do, except to simply accept all that He has done, and submit to Him in surrender. Those that God fetches become His forever.

As Christians, we believe that one day Jesus will come back and fetch His followers with him to the gates of heaven. Jesus will present to his chosen followers to the father as His prized possession, as those who were fetched.
