If you’re someone who has recently begun to dig deep into their spirituality, you might find it overwhelming and difficult to decide where to begin. With so much information and resources available online and with the bible having 66 books, it can all become too much.
Even if you decide to attend a church service, you might not fully grasp the meaning of the sermon. We’ve put together some important sermon topics for you to go through so that the church service and sermon make more sense:
Baptism
Baptism is considered an important milestone in the life of a Christian. However, the way baptisms are performed today are quite different to how it was done in biblical times. Baptism is a reminder that we die in Christ and are reborn in him. A person is completely submerged in water to represent dying with Christ and being let out of the water is a representation of new life. Every Easter, we renew our baptismal vows too as most of us were baptized as newborns.
Communion
Receiving the body of Christ in church is symbolic of the sacrifice he gave for our salvation. The meaning behind communion should be often repeated so that the congregation never take this important symbol for granted. After all, through his sacrifice, we can be freed.
The communion is also a reminder of the last supper and how Jesus knew what was going to happen, yet he went with it and put his faith in his father. He also knew two of his apostles were going to betray him in the coming days.
The Ten Commandments
The Ten Commandments are the basis of our faith, yet we tend to forget them and live our lives without much consideration of the commandments. Reminding the congregation regularly of the ten commandments can help people adhere to it.
